Travel has always been about more than discovering new places for Explorer Shibaji.
Over the years, our journey has brought us closer to people, communities and causes that deserve attention and support. Whenever we have found an opportunity to use our platform to make a difference, we have tried to do our part.
From supporting an individual in her fight to rebuild her life, to helping a social organisation reach a wider audience, to turning the proceeds of a community initiative into direct support for a grassroots organisation… These are some of the social commitments that have become a part of the Explorer Shibaji journey.
Commitment 01
Standing with Sreejani
On April 14, 2024, on Poila Baisakh, Sreejani Ghosh was involved in a devastating road accident. She was run over by a bus twice and suffered multiple life-threatening injuries.
What followed was an extraordinary fight for survival.
Sreejani underwent more than 50 operations, spent two months in the ICU and required several complex procedures to save her legs. Her family has already spent a substantial amount on her treatment and continues to face significant medical and rehabilitation expenses.
But Sreejani has continued to fight.
Her goal is simple: to walk again and regain her independence.
Explorer Shibaji joined hands with others to bring Sreejani’s story to a wider audience and appeal for financial support towards her ongoing treatment, including the reverse colostomy procedure she needs.
The response from the community showed what can happen when a story reaches the right people.

Sometimes, the first step towards helping someone is simply making sure their story is heard.
Commitment 02
Supporting Opportunity Cafe
Opportunity Cafe is doing something rather special.
The organisation works towards the rehabilitation and empowerment of vulnerable young people, including survivors of trafficking and young people with disabilities. Through the cafe, they are given an opportunity to learn skills, work and earn, helping them move towards a more independent life.
When the team approached Explorer Shibaji for help in spreading the word, we decided to support them with our platform.
Not as a paid promotion.
We created two videos: one from the Opportunity Cafe in Gariahat and another around the opening of their Sodepur outlet.
The response was overwhelming. The videos reached a large audience and, as a result, many people visited the cafes and discovered the work being done there.
For us, this was a simple way of contributing.

If we can use our reach to help a good initiative reach more people, why not?
Commitment 03
A Calendar That Became a Contribution
Sometimes, a social initiative starts with something as simple as a calendar.
Explorer Shibaji brought out an English New Year calendar, with the intention of turning its proceeds into support for a social cause.
The entire profit from the calendar sales, ₹71,104, was donated to Nirbhik, a volunteer organisation based in Bally, Howrah.
The cheque was presented at an Explorer Shibaji event on 7 February, 2026.
The initiative also received additional support from Mukherjee Restaurant, Serampore, which contributed ₹6,250 to Nirbhik.
We are grateful to everyone who supported the initiative: our viewers and community, as well as Hanglatherium, Cosmetic World Sodepur, and Subarnarekha Publications.
What started as a calendar became a small but meaningful contribution to an organisation working at the grassroots.

And we are committed to making this an enduring part of the Explorer Shibaji journey.
In closing
More Than a Journey
Explorer Shibaji began with a simple desire to explore, learn, and share.
Over time, the journey has grown to include something else… the opportunity to use our voice and our community for causes that matter.
We don’t believe that every problem can be solved by a video, a campaign, or a contribution.
But we do believe that every little effort counts.
And whenever we can make that effort, we will.
